About

Makauila is normalizing the Hawaiian language and perspective through the production and distribution of Native Hawaiian educational, language, and cultural multimedia content. In pursuit of this mission, we work with organizations to achieve their desired outcomes through the creation and distribution of multimedia content and marketing materials. Because of our unique competency in Hawaiian knowledge, we are a strong partner for Native Hawaiian organizations and institutions to effectively reach their target audience.

History

Makauila is a registered 501 (c) 3 corporation formed in early 2010 out of a need for high-quality multimedia content to serve the needs of the Native Hawaiian community, with a special emphasis towards normalizing the Hawaiian language and perspective in media.  This founding group of media and educational professionals saw a need for a new non-profit organization to raise and manage funds to develop high-quality content that serves the educational and cultural needs of the Native Hawaiian community.  New media distribution venues that are focusing exclusively on Native Hawaiians have opened the door to new opportunities to reach our community in ways never before possible. Makauila is perfectly positioned with the partnerships and organizational competencies to be the leader for developing Native Hawaiian educational multimedia content.
